Leadership and Oversight

A ex-military leader of the the nation's space operations center will deliver recommendations next month on how the publicly-supported center can best support the scale of government AI ambitions in national security, homeland protection and intelligence.

Operational Restructuring

The center's head, a former Amazon UK boss, confirmed that multiple research initiatives at the center employing hundreds have been closed, transferred out or finished because they aren't consistent with the fresh focus.

Organizational Difficulties

The institute has faced organizational challenges since last year as employees objected against changes, culminating in a group of employees filing a whistleblower complaint to the relevant regulatory body.
