The Denver Nuggets star earned the NBA's Most Valuable Player title in 2021, 2022 and 2024.

Three-time National Basketball Association MVP Nikola Jokic suffered a "devastating" injury to his knee when the Nuggets were defeated 147-123 to the Heat.

The Serbian center sustained the injury towards the end of the second quarter in an unintentional collision with team-mate Jones.

The other player landed on the foot of the big man, and he instantly fell to the court holding his leg.

The veteran player, that tops the league season in boards and assists, posted 21 points and eight assists in the game prior to sustaining the setback.

The player will have an MRI on Tuesday to assess the seriousness of the problem.

"Instantly, Jokic understood something was wrong," stated Denver head coach David Adelman.

"Injuries are part of the game. Anyone that gets hurt, it's gut-wrenching, most notably a player as talented as he is. We'll find out more on Tuesday."

"We will continue together. Of course, currently, I'm more concerned about him personally and the frustration of experiencing something of that nature."
