Ex- Physician Faces Assault Charges Against Thirty-Eight Patients
Legal authorities report that a former doctor stands accused of committing assaults involving thirty-eight victims who were under his care.
Details of the Grave Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of sexual offences – including some against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
A senior CPS official said, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Investigation
The charges follow what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported assaults at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer will appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
List of Offences
Prosecutors said the forty-five sexual offences comprise:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
