Adult Swim's Premier New Show of 2025 Gets a Substantial Extension for Two More Seasons.

Last October, the late-night programming block welcomed back its quirky hit, Smiling Friends. However, shortly thereafter, the channel unveiled a completely new animated series with a distinctly unique tone. Haha, You Clowns proved to be sweet and soothing, in the spirit of a animated take of a laid-back talk show. At a time often defined by cynicism, this show's sincerity resonated deeply and helped it become a surprise hit.

A Significant Investment

On December 18th, the network made a major announcement: Haha, You Clowns has been greenlit for two more seasons. This gives creator Joe Cappa a massive runway to further explore the story of the Campbell family. The show centers on three well-mannered teenage brothers whose defining trait is their strong bond for their widowed father, with Cappa portraying for all four key characters.

"My deepest thanks go to the viewers of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and helped it grow," remarked Cappa. "I am overjoyed that I get to spend more time in the Campbell household for the foreseeable future."

Executive Acclaim

In the same announcement commendation from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who called the series as "profoundly sincere and uniquely eerie." He thanked the fans who discovered the show and supported its uniquely offbeat appeal.

"All of you supported this new show, rooted for it on social media, and expanded its audience week over week so we could approve not one, but two more seasons," noted Ouweleen. "As the show says: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Wholesome Alternative

When it first aired, Haha, You Clowns was described as "a comforting antidote" to more cynical adult animated fare. There’s something unexpectedly cozy about observing this endearing family go about their everyday routines.

At the time, creator Joe Cappa expressed his hope to help comedy break out of its prevailing layer of irony. He attributed this trend to a broader media landscape.

“We're stuck in a cycle of irony that we keep returning to,” explained Cappa. “The attitude is that we have to know we’re the cleverest viewer in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for a decade, and we need to laugh at something different now. Comedy has to evolve.”

The Path Forward

With this renewal, with Haha, You Clowns guaranteed to return, Cappa may well help usher in that change he described. At a minimum, the renewal guarantees audiences more opportunities to experience the heartfelt moments of the unique Campbell clan.

The season 1 finale of Haha, You Clowns airs on December 21st. All episodes is currently streaming on HBO Max.
